Quick energy and water saving tips to share with your kids

While my two daughters may be both grown and out of the house, there are a number of energy saving tips that parents can share with younger children.

Ways to save water:

  • Let your kids know that it’s better to not let the water run when they’re brushing their teeth or doing the dishes.
  • Encourage them to report all leaks and running toilets.
  • Advise that they take short showers instead of baths.

Ways to save energy:

  • Remind your kids to turn off the lights when they leave a room.
  • Recommend that they turn off their computers, computer monitors and entertainment devices when they’re not using them.
  • Mention that the windows and doors should stay closed when you put on the heat or air conditioning.
